CORNERSTONE CHURCH

Summary of Vision

To be a truly Christian church, living out our life together in community in a way that brings Glory to Jesus Christ, extending the Gospel of God’s Love to a desperate and declining world through what we believe; how we live; and what we do.

Our aim is to be a community wherein may be found love, faith, hope, fellowship, prayer, preaching, teaching, practical help, and over and above all, New and Abundant Life in Jesus Christ.

Statement of Vision

Our Belief

We believe in contending, whenever and wherever necessary, for the faith which was once for all entrusted to the saints.

We believe in God the Father, Almighty and Eternal, the creator, sustainer, and sovereign ruler of all things.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God and embodiment of the fullness of the Godhead, who is both Lord and Saviour.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the very Spirit of God the Father and God the Son, sent to lead us into all truth and holiness, and to be the empowerer and director of our lives in Christ.

We believe the bible to be the inspired word of God, and the wholly true and infallible authority in all matters of faith, our attitude to life, and our conduct in Christ.

We believe in the universal sinfulness and guilt of fallen mankind, making him subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.

We believe in the substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole and all-sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin, and it’s eternal consequences.

We believe in the justification of the sinner, solely by the grace of God, through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead.

We believe in baptism by immersion in water, following repentance of sin and confession of faith in Christ Jesus as Lord and Saviour, as the outward expression and fulfillment of our belief in Him.

We believe in the receiving of the Holy Spirit as an experience of the sealing unto salvation, and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit for Christian ministry and daily life.

We believe in the priesthood of all believers in Jesus Christ, and in His exclusive High Priesthood.

We believe that there is one universal church, the body of which Jesus Christ is the head, and that He will return, personally and visibly, in power and glory as sovereign Lord and Judge, to claim His church and to bring final judgement.

Our Life

We aim to glorify the name of our living Lord Jesus through praise and worship in spirit and truth.

We aim to pray constantly in the Holy Spirit both corporately and individually.

We aim to grow to maturity of faith through the teaching and study of God’s word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

We aim to care for each other and share each other’s burdens, partaking of the Lord’s Supper together regularly as a Means of Grace, a sign of our oneness in the Lord, and a proclamation of His death until He comes.

We aim to ascertain our giftings, roles and responsibilities within the Body of Christ, individually and corporately, and to encourage one another to co-operate with the Holy Spirit in their realisation and fulfillment.

We aim to relate pro-actively in loving, meaningful, and appropriate ways to the wider Body of Christ.

Our Work

We aim to proclaim the Gospel to those around us, especially by personal witness, and to make disciples of Jesus Christ, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

We aim to reach out and touch people’s lives with the love and power of God, expressing the compassion of Christ practically in ministering to those in need, locally, nationally, and internationally.

We aim to be both salt and light in society, locally, nationally, and internationally.

We aim to see the community outside of the church, within which we exist as the people of God, changed radically for the better, to the Glory of God.
